A meaningful silence is always better than meaningless words!

A meaningful silence is always better than meaningless words! – By B.K Swathi

Here, the word “meaningful” is crucial. It refers to a silence that is experienced when we are connected to the Divine Supreme intellect and not the kind of silence where we sulk and stay silent verbally in order to avoid confrontation.

Silence is our true nature and being in silence helps us experience our soul qualities such as truth, love, happiness, peace. It enriches our life with these treasures.

To begin with, in meditation, we need to put aside all our waste thoughts of friends, family, work etc. and give the thoughts a different direction. Giving our self a positive thought such as “I am a peaceful being”, and repeating this in the mind several times if necessary, is a good start. At this point, we can start a conversation with our self based on this positive thought such as: Peace is my innatenature. Peace is within me and not dependent on any external factors. Today, I choose to be peaceful come what may.

Slowly, as we become one with this thought, we now shift our attention to the Supreme Being, who is an ocean of peace. Knowing that He is our Supreme Father brings us closer to Him and it is easier to establish a link with this knowledge.Initially, our goal is to slowly increase these brief experiences of silence within. With continuous practice, when we build up these experiences, it will become a natural state and eventually we will feel His peaceful divine energy flow through us that will take us beyond any thoughts.

We can continue this practice of silence throughout the day during lunch break or tea/coffee break at work or whenever we can spare a few minutes from our busy schedule.

Those who are full inside are silent; those who are empty within speak a lot. In silence we learn to listen to our inner voice since all the chatter that goes on in our mind stops. This silence is beyond all physical attachments. In silence, we can heal ourselves with the help of Divine energy, find solutions to problems, reconnect with ourinner qualities and gradually discover our inner strength. The silence in each one of us is bigger than the universe and is waiting to be touched.
