Collective Consciousness

by Meena Om

Our gyan, knowledge is meaningless unless we connect to a higher self through the concept of awareness and collective consciousness.

Collectivity and connectivity together make things happen. Schools are a great example of this. There is great continuity of thought between teachers and students. Collectivity makes the children eager to do what the others are doing. If one yells, others will yell too, one jumps, others will jump too. But as we become older, ego surfaces and we become more inclined to show how different we are from others, thus collective thought and continuity vanish. This is a very basic example. If this connection is channelised towards causes for Universal welfare, a grand transformation can happen.

Intelligent people are usually competing with each other, showing off their abilities, ‘you have read two Vedas, I have read three, I am superior to you.’ While the mafia gets together very quickly, ‘you have killed one person, I have killed two, let’s join hands, we are of the same community,’ which is why they create a strong force.

The beauty of connectivity, continuity and ignition is that if we all are connected to each other and one ignites some divine force; that divine will automatically descend onto all.

Even though one may not know it, but whatever you do will have a reflection of that divine force too. There is scientific evidence… Once on the shores of an island, a group of monkeys discovered sweet potatoes. These were covered with mud and so each time a monkey bit into it, he would spit it out, until one intelligent monkey decided to dip them in the ocean water and rub the dirt off before eating it. Thousands of miles away, it was discovered that the monkeys there too had started washing sweet potatoes before eating them. This is how evolution happens. But humans, due to ego, never understand this mechanism of continuity and collective consciousness.

Collective consciousness and continuity have the power to bring about a paradigm shift, a quantum leap.
