You and the Sun staying healthy with the sun energy

by Dr Partap Chauhan

Have you ever taken a moment to realize the beautiful relationship between the Sun and our Earth? Just a little bit closer to Sun, and the Earth would have been completely inhospitable like the Venus where temperatures rise to 460 degree Celsius, a little further away and it would have been frozen and lifeless like Mars!

At the third position from the Sun, all conditions were perfect for life to form on Earth. The Sun is truly life-giving energy, and you, I and every other living being on the earth benefits from its energy. Let us understand how the sun helps you stay healthy.

Strengthens your Agni

Exposing your body to the soothing morning sun rays help you strengthen your Agni and keeps your metabolism strong. If you have been suffering from weak digestion lately, start waking up early and practice Suryanamaskara.

Nourishes your mind and regulates the circadian cycle

During the early hours of the morning, the environment is rich with positive energies which increases Sattva in your mind and soul. Research has shown that getting exposure to the rays of the early morning sun releases the serotonin and dopamine hormone. This hormone enhances your mood, increases the level of concentration and also helps you sleep better at night.

Makes your bones stronger

Sun balances Agni in your body and strengthens Jatharagni (digestive fire), which in turn helps in digesting food and preparing the seven Dhatu in the body, including Asthi dhatu which form the bones. When Asthi Dhatu is strong, your bones become strong. The rays of sun early in the morning is mild and the environment is also in a state of nourishment which is best for making your bones and ligaments strong and healthy.

Makes your skin healthy

The WHO published a finding on the benefits of sun rays on the skin. Exposure to early morning sun rays for 10-15 minutes is beneficial in keeping the skin beautiful and disease free. The findings show that sun rays can help in reducing and treating skin diseases such as Psoriasis, Eczema, Vitiligo, and Acne among others.

Reduces the risk of Diabetes

Exposure to sunlight stimulates the production of insulin and reduces the risk of both Types I and Type II Diabetes. Formation of Vitamin D helps in increasing insulin sensitivity which reduces the chance of Diabates. Also, when you wake up early and practice sun yoga asanas, you get good exercise as well.

So, set your clock to 5AM and enjoy the nourishing sunrays.
